Let’s Go Ride a Bike

September 16th, 2009

You know what they say about never forgetting how to ride a bike? It’s a lie. I used to ride my bike everywhere I went. Once I got to high school and learned to drive, my bike sat in my parent’s garage and collected dust. Recently (10 years later) I rode it again, and I am as wobbly as a baby giraffe learning to walk. Maybe I can get training wheels…Ok, I’m not that wobbly. I need to build up some butt callouses or something. That bike seat isn’t nearly as comfortable as I remember.

  1. Bike seats are horrible! I ordered a giant padded one that has helped a lot. It makes my lovely bicycle look kinda dorky, but it’s comfortable so I don’t care.

Yeah, I think I need one of those big white fluffy ones that looks like your sitting on a small sheep.

David had the same brilliant plan this week–grabbed his bike off the garage hooks, pumped it up, dusted it off…and crashed down the driveway. So be careful! It took me a while to feel comfortable again when I decided to do a triathlon after not riding for 10ish years!

  4. I love those spoke bracelets, I wish they weren’t so expensive. Totally worth it though if you had the money. The inner tube cuff rocks, I could see myself wearing that weekly.

That would be an amazing edition to a Halloween costume.

Jenna: Holy smokes… maybe I should get a helmet to go with the training wheels! I hope he didn’t hurt himself too badly.

Kelly: Yeah, I love those masks. I was thinking the same thing about a Halloween costume!

  6. I hope you’ve kept up with riding your bike. I was like a baby giraffe (love the description) when I started riding again two years ago, and now I ride everywhere all the time :) It’s addictive like that.

    Lovely photos.

I love your comments more than I love chocolate (almost).
