This bread tastes so good—almost as good as chocolate chip cookies. The best part is that the whole wheat flour and bananas mean it’s OK to eat for breakfast. Right?
1.Heat oven to 350°F. Grease bottom only of 8×4-inch or 9×5-inch loaf pan with shortening, or spray with cooking spray. In medium bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cinnamon.
2.In large bowl mix sugar, oil, egg whites, bananas, milk and vanilla with spoon until well blended. Stir in flour mixture until well blended. Stir in chocolate chips. Spoon into pan.
3.Bake 8-inch loaf 55 to 62 minutes, 9-inch loaf 45 to 52 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 5 minutes; remove from pan to cooling rack. Cool completely, about 1 hour, before slicing. (Yeah right, like I can make myself wait that long to eat a slice!)

definitely ok for breakfast! But if I made this one afternoon, I’m not really sure it would last that long!
My family loves banana bread, thx so much for this relatively healthier recipe! Can’t wait to try it out and see what the fam thinks (:
I ate the whole loaf by myself in 3 days… so I sure hope it’s relatively healthier! Ha ha!
I found this recipe after much searching. Fantastic! We used lactose-free fat free milk because that is all we have and it will still absolutely delicious! You should submit this to a recipe sharing site as well.
I came to this recipe by searching Google. I must say that this looks yummy. Thank you for taking your time submitting this recipe!
Loved this!! I used dark choc. chips and it was delicious!
Thanks for sharing, turned out delicious!
My family and friends LOVE this recipe! I have made this bread at least once a week since i found it. I’ve been sharing it with so many people. I usually hate banana bread, but add the chocolate and it’s now my favorite! thanks
That’s awesome Stephanie, I’m so glad you like it! I make it all the time too. Anytime my husband sees a dirty bread pan in the sink he’s like “GASP…Did you make The Bread?!” haha
Just made this bread this morning. It is my first time baking anything ever and dreaded the outcome, but to my pleasant surprise, the bread came out wonderful! It was moist and had a crispy crust…and yummy! :) Thank you for sharing the recipe. You hooked me onto baking!
Great Kavitha! I think baking is a lot easier than regular cooking. You just stick it in the oven and wait. :)
I made this last night – delicious! Only took 10 minutes to stir everything together and get it in the oven. I’ll add more bananas in the future because I like a stronger flavor. I made mini muffins and 2 small loafs. The mini muffins took about 10 minutes to cook (immediate gratification!) and the small loaves about 30-35. Thanks for a great recipe!!
Wow! This recipe was wonderful! I found it via Google when I wanted to make banana bread with whole wheat flour and chocolate chips. Everything was perfect, thank you! The full cup of chips is great for chocolate lovers, but I think it would still be good with about 1/2 as much if you are trying to reduce fat or sugar.
Fantastic recipe! I used unsweetened coconut milk (which did not affect the taste at all) and 45 minutes in a 9 inch pan was just perfect for moist banana bread. Thanks for sharing :)
I tred this and the taste was great, but the bread was very dense , not soft and porous … I hope u know what I mean….I baked on 180c for 60 min in 8 inch loaf…outer crust browned a lot ( blacked actually )….do u know what insist that I did wrong ?
I’m not sure what the density problem could be, but if you make it again try checking it after baking for 45 minutes to see if it’s finished. Then you can bake it a little longer if necessary, but not long enough to blacken the crust.
Hey i tried this again.. Baked it only for 25 minutes and it came out great…not dense either. I also wrapped a wet kitchen towel around my tin for even baking .
This recipe turned out great! I love the hint of cinnamon.
