101 Cookbooks

April 6th, 2010

A few weeks ago I decided not to keep desserts around the house anymore (well, mostly), and strange things have been happening. Instead of constantly craving sweets I am dying for healthy foods. In fact, a few nights ago I roasted kale for a midnight snack!

Imagine my delight (I almost peed my pants!) when I found 101 Cookbooks, a blog that focuses “primarily on natural, whole foods and ingredients—vegetarian recipes that are good for you and for the planet.” I feel like I’ve hit the recipe jackpot! Now if only I can convince my husband to eat like this. Maybe if  I serve everything with a side of steak…

Interesting review of “The Vegetarian Myth” here: http://urbansustainableliving.com/the-vegetarian-myth-book-review.html (Not that I totally agree with her, but her health info seems to be very well researched.) BTW: Patti Moreno is AWESOME, in case you’ve never heard of her.

Another good info site if you’re wondering about health: http://www.mercola.com/

I’m just sayin’, vegetarianism isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Soy, in particular, is bad news especially if you have a tendency towards thyroid problems.

—- just tryin’ to be helpful :O)

  2. I agree with Steph, I’m not a fan of soy products. But then again I eat dairy products, and I don’t like those either haha. But there are plenty of good vegetarian recipes without soy stuff in it.

I could never go 100% vegetarian, because I like meat too much! But, I figure throwing a few vegetarian meals into the mix would be a good way to get more veggies in my diet.

Thanks for the links Steph. I’m off to check them out!

  4. Roasted kale is one of my favorite snacks!

101cookbooks is a staple for me. I love Heidi’s photography as much as her recipes.

Vegetarianism isn’t for everyone, nor should it be. But eating more vegetables is always excellent for your health :)

Hi – I just wanted to let you know I love your blog. Can’t remember exactly how I came across it but it (and some other design blogs) has inspired me to start blogging again.

Circumstances caused me to take a huge break from my blog – something I loved doing dearly – and I thought I’d never get back to it…until I came across Wit & Whistle. You have been an inspiration to me and I thank you.
