Revamping Memory Lane

April 7th, 2010

What do you do with your vacation photos? Mine from the past 5 years are stored on CDs, DVDs, and external hard drives—I haven’t printed a single one. How lame is that? I need to showcase them, so I’m going to design a coffee table book for each vacation. I’m picturing crisp white pages and bold photos like the flickr beauties below.

I just wish I could find a place that prints massive photo books. The maximum size of most photo book printers is 8.5″ x 11″, and that is just not big enough!

  1. That’s a wonderful idea. I love photo books – they make photos feel much more special than normal albums. I keep meaning to get round to having some printed….

  2. Try this site: http://www.photobookmemories.com/

The larger books are a little more expensive, but they should do the trick!!

Alisha – Oh my gosh—I am in love with the 16.5 x 12 size! That would be perfect!

Aloq – That link is exactly what I needed to compare all the different printers. Thanks!

Apple allows you to make a photo book through iPhoto that is 13 x 10. Here’s a link:

I’ve seen the end products and they’re beautiful.

  6. Hey. Wondering what sort of prices you found for those photo albums. We just got one done through iPhoto, only because it was too handy to just make the book in iPhoto and then send it all through the Apple website because our pictures were already in iPhoto on our Mac. The book cost something like $110. Eek. I haven’t seen it yet, but will have it next week. You also couldn’t be too creative with how you wanted pictures cropped, etc.

You guys are awesome for leaving all those links! I will let you know who I end up using.

chocolateprn – It seems like prices vary a lot depending on the size of your photo book and how many pages you print. I’ve seen from $10-$150. It’s too bad that iPhoto doesn’t give you much flexibility with the photo book. You’d think they would since creative types are a large part of Apple’s target market!

    adorama has 9×12 and 12×12.

  9. Check out the Inkubook Great Big Square photo book – it’s 11×11, hardcover with 100lb. archival-quality silk paper. You can get a free copy of your photo book with your first purchase: http://inkubook.com/FreePhotoBook. Have fun!

I love your comments more than I love chocolate (almost).
