Window Box Surprise

July 6th, 2010

My window box herbs didn’t get enough sunlight and died, but now something better is growing there instead.

Baby birds!

We watched an adorable little Carolina Wren couple build their enormous nest right next to our kitchen window. Now we can see the mother sitting on her eggs while we wash the dishes. I wonder how long we will have to wait for the eggs to hatch?

See the mother bird peeking at me through the kitchen window?

Those are great pictures and it will be fun to watch Mom and Pop trying to keep those little mouths fed. Do you have a list of bird names ready to go?

  3. You need to name one of them Bert! Oh! Bird naming contest for some of your cards! LOL
I want birds in an herb box outside my window :/

Billy Bob would be good after all this is a Carolina wren.

Your Wiki link says 12 to 14 days incubation so it won’t be too long before the chicks start driving you crazy wanting to eat. I can’t wait for the pictures.

Ok, the baby birds will officially be named Bert, Gus, and Billy Bob! Even if some of them are girls. ; )

I love your comments more than I love chocolate (almost).
