I haven’t been very productive this week since I spent most days feeling sickly on the couch, but I have been sketching a few ideas for the painting I’m going to do for Daniel’s office. He wants something that is “abstracty without being simple, has cool shapes and lots of curves.” I’m not in love with any [...]

Do you get Anthropologie’s catalog in the mail? I rarely buy anything due to the prices, but their catalog is stunning. Each month they completely change the format, layout, and theme. Even my husband likes looking through them, and he has zero interest in any of their products. I can’t stop thinking about the chalkboard [...]

Photo by romanlily I spent last night with my head in the toilet. I either got food poisoning from a sketchy seafood restaurant at the beach or caught my nephew’s stomach bug. Today I’m curling up on the couch with my snuggly puppies and lots of old movies.

When I saw our house for the first time I didn’t even look in the closets. I just said “let’s make an offer.” I was smitten with the uniqueness of the a-frame floor plan, the finished basement, the huge windows and the 1/2 acre wooded lot…I knew it had to be mine! But, there are [...]

I painted my toenails green and we’re heading to Carolina Beach for my husband’s family reunion. Here’s hoping your weekend isn’t as hot, sweaty and sandy as mine is going to be! Photo by ang brinker

Here’s a little something I painted for my Aunt who got married a few weeks ago. She lives in the mountains so I thought a landscape would be perfect. It’s based on a photograph I took at the top of Grandfather Mountain in Linville, North Carolina.

Daniel doesn’t have a man cave at home, because he spends the majority of his time at work. (Also, my stuff takes up the whole house hehehe.) The company he works for just completed their new building which includes a rock climbing wall, a huge slide between floors, ping pong, foosball, a pool table, an amazing [...]

My window box herbs didn’t get enough sunlight and died, but now something better is growing there instead. Baby birds! We watched an adorable little Carolina Wren couple build their enormous nest right next to our kitchen window. Now we can see the mother sitting on her eggs while we wash the dishes. I wonder how [...]

Home again! We visited the Playa del Carmen area to snorkel at the coral reefs, but unfortunately we weren’t able to due to terrible weather. Instead we ended up watching a lot of TV in our hotel room, and snorkeling in some awesome caves (aka “cenotes”) when the rain let up.
