It’s a good idea to befriend people who bake to relieve stress, because sooner or later some tasty goodies will be coming your way! My friend Bekah relieves stress by baking, and earlier this year she had her first baby. So, she has been doing some serious baking!
Bekah shared these “healthy cookies” with me, and I loved them. The texture is a bit different than a normal cookie, but they taste great. To make them even healthier you could leave out the chocolate chips and throw in some dried fruit, but I would never do that because chocolate is the soul of any cookie.
3 ripe bananas (mashed)
2 1/2 cup oats
1/3 cup applesauce
1/3 cup honey
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/3 cup dark chocolate chips (or more!)
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl, and let them sit for 15 minutes. Then spoon the dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees.
Easy, yummy, healthy.

I’m going to make this next week to reward myself. I’ve been sick so I haven’t really been eating much and now my stomach feels smaller. Lost 5 lbs. Perfect time to attempt to diet/lose some weight. Would love to see more healthy recipes!
I hope you feel better soon Kelly!
The banana cookies sound great. Two questions
1. Can the oats simply be Quaker oatmeal, and if so, old-fashioned or “quick”?
2. What is the fat, calorie, and fiber content per cookie for Weight Watcher points purposes? Thanks!
Natalie – I used Quaker oatmeal quick oats when I made these. I’m not sure how to determine the fat/calorie/fiber content of a recipe. Does anyone else know?

I plugged the ingredients onto my WW calculator and if you make 35 cookies, each cookie is 2 points. If you make more than 35, smaller cookies, they are 1 point.
Here is the nutrition facts with 30 cookies. :)

Awesome! Thanks Sarah!
I have a question – how do you store these cookies? Just an airtight container or do you refrigerate them? I made these for the second time tonight and changed it up slightly – I put raisins instead of chocolate chips in about half the batter and then I did the other half of the batter with chocolate chips (and some of those I added craisins!
I’ve kept them on the counter in an airtight container for a few days with no problems. Any longer than that, and I think they’d probably need to be refrigerated. I’ll bet they are great with craisins!
I thought they tasted a little weird….maybe it’s because I replaced dark chocolate with semi-sweet chocolate…idk…what do you think?
I use semi-sweet chocolate in them all the time, and I love them. It could be that this just isn’t the recipe for you. :)
OK….I’m about to try these with cranberries (Craisins) instead of chocolate chips! I know those are two quite different things, but I love Craisins and I think it’ll be a nice tart flavor! I will try to post back with the verdict :)
It came ou great.. I did add more choco chips than mentioned in the recipe…to persuade my 14 yr old son to eat it… And he just loved it …my husband too and the cookie jar was polished off the same day !!! By the way I call the oats choco chip munchies…. Thx for posting this yummy and healthy recipe …
