Mapping It Out

February 9th, 2011

I’m delighted every time I ship my products to places I’ve never been, because it’s like sending a piece of myself out to travel the world. To record my “travels” I got a metallic silver map, a bunch of map tacks, and a cork board. I pinned the map to the board, and marked each state, province, or country I’ve sent packages to with a tack. Each location only gets one tack no matter how many orders I’ve shipped there. It took a while, but it was a great geography refresher. It turns out that Wit & Whistle products have made an appearance in 45 46 47 48 49 of all 50 US states!

  1. That is such a cute idea! I may have to borrow it someday. What a lovely way to remember how your art has made its mark on the world. =)

I am impressed but then your stuff is great so I expect it to spread globally. Just don’t outsource Daniel, OK?

I just got Nevada! Was that a coincidence, or did one of you lovely readers help me out? : )

  4. I love this idea! Such a cool way to see where your work has travelled.

As for the Nevada purchase *raises hand* I’ve been meaning to buy something from your shop and when I saw this I just had to :)

What a great idea! I’ve been wanting to document something about the places both my boyfriend and I have been. I lived in Japan for a while, and my BF travels for work and has gone to a ton of places. If it were a competition, he’d win for sure, but I wonder how it would look if we gave each other separate colors and saw the difference. XD

that’s so awesome!!! Only three more to go! :D

  7. I can’t believe that map is under $3! You make everything look so lovely.

Awesome! Love this map! I’ve never seen one like this somehow and I love your idea with pinning your packages. I saw this over at You Are My Fav and, like I said over there, I’d feel bad for all of the places I hadn’t pinned yet! It’s be like a constant reminder… “why are you sitting here? There’s a world to explore!” I feel that enough already, ha!

  9. I’m totally stealing this idea. Thanks for linking to the map ($2.66?! awesome).

  10. I’m obsessed with maps…and have never seen one like this! Gorgeous! (I may link to my blog if that’s okay!)

My roommate and I pin our (boring blue) map with places we have been…and places we want to go (we haven’t actually beeeen to enough places to make it all rainbow-y with tacks yet ;)

  11. Great find! I’ve been looking for a world map for quite some time, thanks for sharing.

  12. Hello,
Thank you so much for posting such a great and creative idea. Would you mind if I put a link to your blog as well?
My boyfriend and I just put up our map , and we had such a great time reliving all our memories from our trips around the world.
We did have to cut off Samoa and a bit of Russia to make the map fit properly inside of the cork, but it still looks great. Thanks for the fabulous idea, I adore your blog. :)
