I swear I’m not making this up! Have you ever heard of a kiwiberry? I hadn’t until my last trip to the grocery store. Daniel was reluctant to buy a small handful of strange berries for $5, but I can be very persistent! Kiwiberries are the size of large grapes, and inside each small green globe is…(drumroll please)…a tiny kiwi. All the kiwi and none of the hairy peel! What a wonderful little fruit. How did I not know about these before? Maybe on my next shopping trip I’ll find bananaberries or pearberries. Mangoberries would also be delightful. Here’s hoping!

I love your comments more than I love chocolate (almost).

Wow, these are so neat! I don’t care too much for kiwis, but these are tempting. Next time I’m food shopping, I’ll definitely have to look for them. Thanks for the discovery! :)
I’m actually more intrigued by those wood grain plates. Those are beautiful! Can I ask where you got them?
I got the plate at West Elm a few months ago. I don’t see them on their website anymore, but maybe they still have some in their stores!
I’ve only had kiwiberries a couple of times, but I LOVED them! They are so strange and wonderful. Thanks for reminding me about them…
OMG!!! Those sound amazing, what grocery store did you find them at???
They were at Lowe’s Food. I hope they start stocking them regularly!
Wow, really? I wonder if you can get them in Australia?! That is so freaking cool :D
I’m sure you can, because the packaging says they were grown in New Zealand!
I’ve never heard of them before, soo interesting! And cute! :D
What?! These are so awesome.
Do you eat them whole? Or do you have to peel them like a regular kiwi?
You eat them whole—no peeling necessary. The skin is nice and thin, although I didn’t eat the little stems on the ends.
These are awesome and I will definitely be keeping an eye out for them at my grocery store. I saw grapples last year – apples that taste like grapes. Also bizarre but yummy :)
Oh my gosh, I need to try a grapple now!
Never seen them before and I love fruit above anything else…ok maybe that’s a bit exaggerated :) I have to look for these and the grapples for sure.
Btw, love your blog!
Thanks Tania!
whoa! i’ve never heard of kiwiberries either! hmm definitely need to give them a try. love the photo of the berry on the lined plate!
Pineappleberries would be nice! I’ve heard of these before, but I’ve never tried them. I wonder if they’re genetically engineered to get that small?
I went to school outside of Portland, Oregon and there is a place where you can U-pick these! I always said they reminded me of eating fruit snacks, they are so sweet and refreshing! http://www.hursts-berry.com/products.php
If you are ever in Oregon, make the trip!
