Miles of Light

We spent Sunday afternoon at the park exploring the woods with our doggies. Long curly poodle/schnauzer fur is a magnet for anything and everything laying around on the forest floor. By the time we headed home the pups looked like they were wearing pants made of twigs, leaves, pine needles and dirt. I just wish some [...]

Sparkling Ginger Chip Cookies

Posted by Amanda (wit & whistle) on March 15th, 2011 under Recipes Tags: , , , , ,  •  11 Comments

Thanks to this guy I’m obsessed with finding new ways to eat fresh ginger. I found a cookie recipe that calls for fresh ginger and chocolate, so I knew for sure it would be a winner. The crispy sugar shell, the soft moist center, the chocolate, and the heat from the ginger makes these cookies [...]

Style: The New Talbots?

Posted by Amanda (wit & whistle) on March 14th, 2011 under Fashion Tags: , , , , , , ,  •  2 Comments

Last week the blogosphere was abuzz with posts about Talbots’ gorgeous new lookbook, and I started considering the possibility that maybe Talbots isn’t as dowdy as I thought. I fell in love with this dress and visited a store over the weekend to try it on for fun (I really wanted to twirl around in it), but [...]

Window Shopping

Posted by Amanda (wit & whistle) on March 11th, 2011 under Shop Tags: , , , ,  •  1 Comment

How about a little window shopping this lovely Friday afternoon? It shocks me how many splendiferous products are available on Etsy. Just when I think I’ve found all the good stuff a new batch of favorites presents itself! I broke out my thesaurus to come up with splendiferous. Sometimes I feel like I use the same [...]

Tiling the Bathroom Floor

Posted by Amanda (wit & whistle) on March 10th, 2011 under Do It Yourself, Home + Garden Tags: , , , , , ,  •  11 Comments

I finally finished tiling the basement bathroom floor, and I’m quite happy with the results! I still need to install quarter round trim to hide the gap between the tiles and the walls, but all the tile work is done. Not too shabby for my first time, huh? I’m so relieved that I didn’t screw [...]

Donna Wilson

I never thought a tea towel could make me laugh out loud, but these ones sure did. The idea of drying my dishes with someone’s actual beard or beehive is enough to make me gag, but wouldn’t these adorable towels be fun to have in your kitchen? If you haven’t seen Donna Wilson’s work before [...]

What’s in my bag?

Posted by Amanda (wit & whistle) on March 2nd, 2011 under Home + Garden, Personal Tags: , ,  •  9 Comments

Are you nosy? I think I must be since one of my favorite parts of house hunting was poking around in strangers’ closets. Here’s a peek in my bag for you fellow snoopers. I never leave home without these essentials. I also have a wad of tissues and some crumpled receipts in my bag, but [...]

Marco Suarez

Posted by Amanda (wit & whistle) on March 1st, 2011 under Design Inspiration Tags: , , , , , ,  •  4 Comments

I can’t stop drooling over Marco Suarez’s Irish landscape photography. I need to sort through my old landscape photos and see if cropping them into a circle somehow makes them mind-blowingly gorgeous. Somehow I doubt it. Maybe Ireland is a magical place and it comes through in these photos, maybe Marco is insanely talented, or maybe [...]
