Painting #5

July 22nd, 2011

Here’s the final painting for my class! I think my favorite part is the honeycomb pattern in the background. I tried painting on wood for the first time, and I like it so much better than canvas. Canvas drives me crazy with it’s bumpy texture! Trying to get paint into each little crevice is so tedious. I love how smoothly the paint flows onto a wooden surface.

Here are my thoughts on the painting e-course. I don’t think I would recommend an online painting class to someone who has never tried painting before. There is no substitute for having the teacher standing there with you, showing you what to do, and giving you one-on-one feedback. Overall I’m glad I took the class simply because it forced me to paint again. If you’re like me and you need a kick in the butt to pull your paint brushes out, a class like this might be perfect for you!
