Mr. T

September 20th, 2011

This morning I noticed the ivy down the hill in our backyard rustling in a turtle-y fashion. (This specific sort of rustling is hard to describe, but it’s quite different from bird rustling or squirrel rustling.) I waded through the brush and found this little guy! Unfortunately he’s one of the least sociable box turtles I’ve ever met. I tried all my turtle wooing techniques (fresh raspberries and belly rubs), but he just wouldn’t come out of his shell.

Haha. He was probably sick to his tummy having been turned upside down. He is a beauty. I like his moss bed, not as deep as the one you saw in Iceland though. He might come out for that one. :)

  2. Adorable, sometimes I wish I lived in a place where I could find lil creatures like Mr. T in my yard.

Well, the downside is that we find lots of unwanted creatures too. For example, a few weeks ago a copperhead found its way onto our screened porch!

  3. What luck to spot him! I’ve only had the pleasure of hearing turtle sounds in my yard once since I moved to NC in 2009. Ever since that one time I’m always on the lookout though.

  4. even though he was shy, i still think he’s super adorable!

He has Wi-Fi in the shell and was surfing the web to check the latest blog posting for Wit&Whistle no doubt.

  6. This guy is pretty adorable. I think I would wanna stay in my shell too if something like 100X my size came and lifted me and turned me upside down & around :P

I love your comments more than I love chocolate (almost).
