Just a Sunday Afternoon

January 23rd, 2012

Here are a few clips I shot around the house yesterday afternoon. I rented a Canon 7D to “test drive” for a few days. Although I decided that I’m not quite ready to upgrade my camera body yet, I sure loved having the ability to shoot video!

  1. What a lovely video! Looks like a nice, relaxing Sunday you had there.

I’ve been wanting to dabble in video too. Thanks for inspiring me.

  2. Beautiful! Where is that tree face? I have a photo of one that looks exactly like it, in a New Orleans cemetery.

The face is on a tree in our backyard. The previous owners had it up, and I told them I liked it so they left it for us. It’s kind of scary in the dark! :)

  3. The camera can definitely do beautiful things – love how you were able to focus in and out on different areas. Was the music with the video the music you were playing?

Most pleasant video! I may just watch that whenever I need a reminder that LIFE IS GOOD! Thanks for that :)

So charming! My poochie never sits still long enough for that kind of close up.:-)

  6. How adorable, I love it!

Sweet how the dogs get the starring role ;)

Lovely sunday (and nice to watch it on Monday at work even more). Thank you )
P.s. You might want to test something like Manfrotto Magig Arm for shooting videos – it makes it look more stable and without any accidental shakes.

Thanks for the tip Lynne! Unfortunately I had to send the camera back to the rental place today, but if I ever get a video-capable camera I will definitely look into that. My tripod was not cutting it!

  8. like! and nice song choice, too – one of my favorites =)

  9. So peaceful and I love your DIY mug!

That video is lovely. If you don’t mind me asking, what website platform do you use? I know the design was customized, but I would really like to find a good web/blog combo. platform.

I LOVE your video, it’s so simple but perfect. You should submit it to the Organic Oscar Oscar’s… its a video contest for dogs (and yours are adorable!). http://www.facebook.com/organicoscarcollection

aww… that vid was lovely… thanks for including it for us to see. i really like your style so i’m a “fan” of your blog. [i also line in NC, the eastern part]

question: what are the names of the yellow flowers you showed at the beginnig and the adorable “lily-pad-on-a-stem” looking plant? i’m trying to incorporate more plant life into our home…

thanks! lookin’ forward to more loveliness!

    • Amanda (wit & whistle)

They yellow flowers are dried “Billy Buttons” (such a weird name!), and the lily pad looking plant is called a Chinese Money Plant. Isn’t it so cool? I really hope I don’t kill it!

  16. Beautiful! Looks like an amazing Sunday. Love those billy buttons!

Very nice! I like how your Sunday afternoon seemed fulfilling :D

  18. i love this video! How did you edit it??

    • Amanda (wit & whistle)

Thanks! I edited the clips together in iMovie, and added the graphic at the beginning in Adobe After Effects.

  19. Sarah

    Hi!

I really dug your video. What program did you use to generate that cute little text and leaf graphic? Did you make them yourself in a video editing program or was that a template from somewhere?

    Thank you!

    • Amanda (wit & whistle)

Thanks Sarah! I drew the branchy things by hand and scanned them in, I added text to them in Adobe Illustrator, and imported the .eps file into Adobe After Effects.
