We flew kites at Lake Crabtree over the weekend. The sun was just starting to set, and the light was beautiful. It was just cold enough to scare everyone off, so Daniel and I had the whole lake to ourselves. Best of all, my completely awesome kite was shaped like an owl. Add kite flying to your to-do list for sure! We had a blast.

(The music is “a runaway kite” by Lullatone.)

Glad you did not snare an inbound to RDU but I guess they would still be fairly high. Daniel gets a cold star for making your wish come true. And I have to ask – did he giggle the whole time he was flying the kite?
I didn’t hear any giggling, but he was on the other side of the field for a while flying his non-owl kite, so maybe I just couldn’t hear it. :)
lullatone is so magical. this was a fun post!
where did you get your owl kite? it’s awesome!
Beautiful pictures!! Where did you buy the owl kite?
We found the owl kite at Walmart. They also had bald eagle kites!
Love the pictures. I haven’t participated in kite flying since my kids were young. Brought back great memories!
It’s *years* since I flew a kite but right now I can’t think of anything I’d rather do this weekend! Fingers crossed we get a breeze…

Love the colors. :)
I got my boyfriend a kite for his last birthday & he loves it!
Hi! I love your blog and recently shared your lullatone video with my readers. So pretty! I have a few photography questions for you…your photos are always so great. My first question: are you using specific software to achieve effect or is it something you are able to accomplish with your camera? Anyway, all so pretty – thank you for sharing your art and talent!
Thanks Amy! These photos I took with my iPhone using the Instagram app and applied filters to the images. All the other photos on my blog I’ve taken with my Canon, and I use Photoshop actions to give them a subtle warmth.
I just found your blog today and it is completely lovely. Beautiful in everyway. Stunning. Thanks for a very well spent 47 minutes. So far.
