It has been a while since I put together my last window shopping post! Look at all this great stuff. I wish someone would pay me to browse Etsy. Online Personal Shopper—that could be a job title, right? 1 brass chevron necklace from Prairie Oats 2 parallel bars ring from SD Marie Jewelry 3 old book [...]

I’m back! I’m not quite feeling 100% yet, but I’m back. I was hoping that after having my wisdom teeth removed last Monday I would spend the week tripping on pain killers and filling my sketchbook with all sorts of wonderful new stuff. It turns out that Percocet just makes me puke. My poor, poor [...]

West Elm has invited a bunch of local Etsy sellers (including me!) to set up shop at their Charlotte location on March 31. If you’re in the Charlotte area I hope you can come out and say hello! Just when I thought I couldn’t love West Elm any more. West Elm would like everyone to [...]

A few of you asked about gouache painting tips, so this one is for you guys! All you really need to get started with gouache is paint, brushes, a palette, water, and something to paint on (I used bristol paper). It turns out that I’ll need a bit more experience before I become the Queen [...]

A while back I came across this ombré dip-dyed t-shirt on J.Crew’s website, and it seemed like a challenge to make my own. Yesterday my sister came over with her tie-dying stash to help me figure out how. Lately I’ve been seeing (and loving) this look on curtains, but dying a shirt seems a lot less [...]

My Daughter’s Getting Married! by John Nichols has been published and is now for sale here at barnesandnoble.com and here at amazon.com! My dad was very involved in the wedding planning process when Daniel and I got married, [...]

I’m going to a friend’s thirtieth birthday celebration tomorrow, so I figured my weekly gouache practice was the perfect time to refine this 30th birthday card idea that has been trapped in my head. It’s my first official gouache design, and it is available in the shop. A lot of my friends have been turning 30 [...]

If you need a simple dessert made from ingredients you already have on hand, look no further! These are scrumptious. Next time I make them I’m going to experiment with different jams for the filling. 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar 1 cup all-purpose flour 1/4 teaspoon baking soda 1/8 teaspoon salt 1 cup rolled [...]

Terrariums are super trendy right now, but (just for the record) I’ve been on a terrarium kick for a while. In first grade I grew bean seeds in huge glass jugs for my science fair project, in college I planted a terrarium in a wine bottle, and for our wedding 5 years ago we made [...]

Yesterday I scheduled an appointment to have my wisdom teeth removed. It’s not for a few weeks, but I’m already feeling a little anxious. There’s nothing like a quiet afternoon of painting to help calm the butterflies in my stomach. The more I play around with gouache, the more I like it!
