Foxy Free Fonts

April 30th, 2012

I just realized that I’ve never done a font post! That’s crazy, because I love fonts. In fact, I currently have 14,375 fonts on my computer. I have no idea how I ended up with so many, because I only use a fraction of them and most of them are way too ugly to use anyway. Maybe someday I’ll sort them out. In spite of my large collection, I can’t resist downloading free fonts here and there. A lot of the freebies available are pretty gross, but there are plenty worth keeping (spoken like a true font hoarder). You can download the fonts below right here: Ranger, Hagin, Wisdom Script, Titillium, Museo, Blanch

Ohh this is way too much fun. I didn’t even know free fonts existed until now!

  4. Do you use anything to organise your fonts? I had like 9k of them, and programs took a billion years to open and use. It slowed everything RIGHT down and I just ended up deleting them. Any tips?

I use Font Explorer X (http://www.fontexplorerx.com/) and I really like it. It’s a lot faster and more streamlined than Font Reserve which is what I previously used. I think the key is to make sure you don’t have all the fonts activated at the same time. That will definitely slow down your programs. I only have a few hundred fonts activated at any given time.

  5. and i thought i had a lot of fonts! 14k!! WOW. it takes me forever to decide what font to use with the hundred or so i probably have – can’t imagine how long it would take if i had half as many as you! any recommendations for a good cursive handwriting font? i’m always interested in those!

discovered your blog a few days ago and have spent far too long perusing your archives – your blog, and your work, are so lovely!

    • I’ve just recently done this too. I read the whole blog in an evening. What a weird experience, viewing someone’s life for a few years. It was gripping stuff though haha

I have never made a font, but that would be a fun project to take on!
