House Industries Prints

I don’t know what it is about metallic inks, but they make me crazy (in a good way). I love the luster and depth they add to a print. I’m itching to hang one of these handprinted eye candies from House Industries on my wall. Or maybe that itchiness is just my spring allergies?

Rainstorm Brainstorm

We’ve had a gloomy rainy day—the best sort of day for sketching new ideas and soaking up inspiration. This afternoon I savored a cup of hot tea and pored over Pattern by Orla Kiely. Oh yeah, and I painted my nails. I’m in love with white nail polish. It reminds me of coating my nails with [...]

Back to the Future

This morning I came across the photography of Irina Werning, and I had to share this amazing project with you. Irina had her subjects reenact old photographs of themselves, and she precisely recreated the images. Check out the complete project right here. It’s so interesting to see how people age, but it’s also a little [...]

Miles of Light

We spent Sunday afternoon at the park exploring the woods with our doggies. Long curly poodle/schnauzer fur is a magnet for anything and everything laying around on the forest floor. By the time we headed home the pups looked like they were wearing pants made of twigs, leaves, pine needles and dirt. I just wish some [...]

Donna Wilson

I never thought a tea towel could make me laugh out loud, but these ones sure did. The idea of drying my dishes with someone’s actual beard or beehive is enough to make me gag, but wouldn’t these adorable towels be fun to have in your kitchen? If you haven’t seen Donna Wilson’s work before [...]

Marco Suarez

I can’t stop drooling over Marco Suarez’s Irish landscape photography. I need to sort through my old landscape photos and see if cropping them into a circle somehow makes them mind-blowingly gorgeous. Somehow I doubt it. Maybe Ireland is a magical place and it comes through in these photos, maybe Marco is insanely talented, or maybe [...]

Kisses in the Wind

Aerie’s whimsical spring video showed up in my inbox yesterday and swept me off my feet. It doesn’t necessarily make me want to buy their clothing, but I do want to run around in a field with a huge balloon, build a blanket fort, and fly a kite!

Massive Paper Lanterns

I’ve replaced 14 light fixtures in our house over the past 2.5 years, and nothing has caught on fire yet, so I must have done an OK job. Well, the last one on my fixtures-to-replace list is the heinous ceiling fan looming over our great room. I’m going to call in an electrician for this [...]

Rue Magazine

Posted by Amanda (wit & whistle) on February 3rd, 2011 under Design Inspiration Tags: , , , , ,  •  2 Comments

I think all magazines should be offered digitally. Then I’d have no more stacks of old magazines to recycle, no piles of torn out pages I want to keep, and best of all they’re free (at least the ones I’ve seen are). I kept hearing about Rue Magazine, so I finally took a look. It’s [...]
