I’ll bet you’ve never read a blog post about a dustpan before, but that’s probably because you’ve never seen a dustpan this cute before! I had to stop at World Market the other day, and I found this little guy hiding in the corner with the cleaning supplies. I already have a dustpan, but it doesn’t [...]

Fall leaves are kind of like bananas. There are only a few days when they’re really at their prime—not too green and not too brown. This is one of those days! little known fact: We have an ent living in our backyard.

Happy Halloween! My pumpkin is ready to welcome trick-or-treaters. This year I painted it gold before carving it up. Now it looks snazzy in the daylight too. You know the smell a pumpkin makes when it has a candle burning inside? I love that smell.

While tidying up my hard drive I found a folder containing the photos from our home’s real estate listing back in 2008 when we purchased it. It’s so weird to see someone else’s stuff in our home! I got a kick out of comparing the previous owners’ old photos to more recent ones that I [...]

A while back I was asked to write a post identifying all my house plants, so here it is! It’s a little overwhelming to see them all in one place. I might be a crazy plant lady. It doesn’t seem like I have so many when they’re spread out around the house! (By the way, [...]

I’m probably the only one that will truly appreciate these before & after photos. It’s not really something that’s going to be impressive to most. It’s weird to get excited about a patch of plain old grass, but when you started with a pile of gravel topped with a tangle of snakes and ivy (both [...]

I’ve been searching for a good storage solution for my rubber stamp inventory, since stuffing them in a drawer in a messy jumble wasn’t working out for me. I ended up ordering a bunch of these jars, and they’re perfect for my purposes. Now my stamps are quickly accessible, and I can easily see how many [...]

I’ve been hoping to snap some photos to follow up on my butterfly garden post, but the butterflies are so darn skittish that they flutter away as soon as they see me coming. The other morning when I walked out to the mailbox I noticed that my parsley plant had been completely demolished overnight—no leaves [...]

Of all the stores we are missing here in the Raleigh/Durham area, a nearby West Elm was first on my wish list. I did a lot of squealing when I found out my wish was coming true. West Elm Durham opens tomorrow! West Elm invited me to come in before the grand opening for a [...]

Our guest bedroom was one of the first rooms I decorated after we moved in. It has been four years since then, so my taste has changed a bit. Daniel wanted to swap his office with the guest bedroom (since there are more A/C vents in that room), so we made the switch over the [...]
