We had a beautiful snowfall here on Saturday! Big featherlike flakes floated down like remnants of a celestial pillow fight. I couldn’t resist the urge to make a little video. My dog, Mabel, is probably the only one who gets more excited about snow than I do! Watch in HD over on Vimeo for the full snowflakey [...]

Here’s the last bit of New Zealand trip documentation—a bunch of random video clips we took along the way! Spoiler alert: How adorable are those ducklings? Our last morning in NZ we sadly packed up our things and prepared to leave Lake Tekapo and head home. When we opened the campervan door we found a row [...]

I got a ukulele this summer, and I’ve been having so much fun learning to play. My piano fingers aren’t quite used to all this awkward contorting yet, but I love being able to cuddle up on the couch with my uke instead of perching on a hard piano bench. I can’t cross “learn to [...]

We flew kites at Lake Crabtree over the weekend. The sun was just starting to set, and the light was beautiful. It was just cold enough to scare everyone off, so Daniel and I had the whole lake to ourselves. Best of all, my completely awesome kite was shaped like an owl. Add kite flying [...]

Here are a few clips I shot around the house yesterday afternoon. I rented a Canon 7D to “test drive” for a few days. Although I decided that I’m not quite ready to upgrade my camera body yet, I sure loved having the ability to shoot video!

Aerie’s whimsical spring video showed up in my inbox yesterday and swept me off my feet. It doesn’t necessarily make me want to buy their clothing, but I do want to run around in a field with a huge balloon, build a blanket fort, and fly a kite!

What did you collect when you were a child? Barbies? Rocks? Matchbox cars? I collected creatures in jars. My jar collections included tadpoles, frogs, toads, crayfish, minnows, fireflies, spiders, caterpillars, butterflies, praying mantises, and lady bugs. Once a lizard narrowly escaped me but left behind his tail. It wiggled for 3 days in its jar before [...]

Here’s a little something from my design school days. I spent hours at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences photographing specimens, and they even let me into the storage room to see the ones that weren’t on display! The music is “Smoothie Song” by Nickel Creek. Sometimes I miss design school, but I don’t [...]

I’m a sucker for new pens. I recently picked up a pack of Sharpie pens to try. I put them to the test, and just as I suspected they are perfect for doodling!
