I usually have no idea what I’m going to paint when I pull out my brushes, so I’ve given myself an assignment—to paint portraits of my houseplants. Thankfully my plants are very patient and will sit there and pose as long as I need them to. I’m going to list the original paintings for sale [...]

I just added a couple Easter cards to the shop! I think it probably makes Jesus sad each Easter when we put more emphasis on a basket-wielding bunny than on remembering the sacrifice he made for us. So, I decided to skip the expected bunny card in favor of something with a little more meaning. [...]

We’re traveling home from New Zealand today! Actually it’s taking us two days to get home, but because of the time zone changes we’ll squeeze it all into one day. I still don’t quite understand how that works, but I’m pretty sure it’s the same as time travel. Awesome. The shop will reopen tomorrow (or [...]

I’ve been working on my holiday cards this week—figuring out which designs from last year I’m keeping, and coming up with some new offerings too. I’m pondering making this sketch into a postcard printed on heavy brown kraft card stock. I think someone might like to send Christmas postcards rather than traditional folded cards with [...]

I’ve been designing a line of rubber stamps for the shop, and they’re almost ready to go. I’m just working out how I’m going to do the product photography and packaging. They should be available sometime in the next few weeks! By the way, tea towels are in the works too!

We’ve been sneak peeked! The folks at Design*Sponge contacted me a few months ago about featuring our home in one of their Sneak Peek posts, so naturally I freaked out (in a good way). I posted some of my photos that they didn’t end up using below, but head over to Design*Sponge to check out [...]

Here are a few of my most recent sketchbook pages and the process behind my Valentine’s Day card designs. I’m pretty sure I have the sense of humor of a 9 year old boy…

How about a peek at my latest sketchbook shenanigans? I’ve been doing some brainstorming for #5 and #11 on my Twelve by 2012 list.

I recently ordered new shipping stamps. Did you know that standard do not bend stamps don’t say “please”? That’s just terrible! I think saying “please do not bend” will make my envelopes stand out from all the bossy “do not bend” envelopes, and the postal workers will be inclined to handle my packages extra carefully. [...]
