Terrariums are super trendy right now, but (just for the record) I’ve been on a terrarium kick for a while. In first grade I grew bean seeds in huge glass jugs for my science fair project, in college I planted a terrarium in a wine bottle, and for our wedding 5 years ago we made terrarium centerpieces for all the tables at the reception. In short, I always have and always will love terrariums. Knowing this, Daniel got me a Score & Solder terrarium for my birthday! It is absolutely gorgeous, and I loved filling it with teeny tiny succulents over the weekend.
We made these this weekend too. LOVE terrariums!
This is such a great way to introduce greenery to a small urban space like my home. I’m not terribly green-fingered but I think even I could keep these alive!

The terrarium is really wonderful! I really like how you made it
That Daniel…he’s a good one. Eli got me a pyramid shaped one from a seller on etsy for christmas…it currently houses a chunk of amethyst since he doesn’t trust me with living things since our hens & chicks took a dive for the worst recently.
I might do that with mine if my plants die. :) I’m terrible at keeping succulents alive.
I’m also bad at keeping these alive… Can’t figure it out
I just read an article about creating these. I love the simplicity of them.
This is absolutely gorgeous!
I actually made two terrariums this weekend! Yours is much better looking though, haha. That hanging terrarium is amazing. Definitely going on my wishlist for sure.
Gorgeous! I love terrariums and I haven’t tired of this trend at all (I must admit I’m still on the chevron kick, too, though)… anyway, yours looks great!
Love your terrarium, such a cute shape and interesting glass container. I have been playing with succulents at home too and now I have more inspiration! Thanks
Making a terrarium is on my Spring to-do list. Yours is just gorgeous!
Lucky gal, lucky gal! Looks great!
I hung out with Shelley M. last night and she told me all about your blog and your big week of features! Congrats! You have a great space here! I too am in love with succulents..

It’s beautiful. I love terrariums and I love your blog :)
Aww, thanks!
Great project. You’ve inspired me to get out my glass cutting equipment again…For the first time in years!
What an awesome skill to have!
Wow. That is so beautiful. Hope to get some succulents in the next couple of weeks.

That looks great! But do you know why there are crystals in some terrariums?
I’m not sure. Mine came with a crystal that I tucked in there, it’s not visible in the photos though. Maybe just to look pretty? :)
Love the terrarium. It would be helpful if you listed Where to Buy for copycats. PS “Imitation is the sheerest form of flattery.”
Where did you get your terrarium? I’d like to start one!
Phoebe and Patty, the words “Score & Solder” in the post are linked to the site where you can purchase a terrarium like this. :)
I just ordered one as a gift. Thanks for this beautiful post. :)
This is just gorgeous! The photos you have taken are even better than on their site!
can you tell me if these can be in direct sunlight?
The tag on the terrarium said that it would do best in indirect sunlight.
So lovely! I’m in love with Succulents and have planted a few little planters with them recently. There’s just something so beautiful about them!!
cool! :)
AHh!! These are the sweetest little plants! Love it!!
omg this is just awesome stuff! i absolutelly love them!
The ideas is cute and very pretty although succulents generally aren’t suited for a closed environment. Succulents hold water in their leaves and do not need more moisture. Tiny houseplants and mosses work better.
Strangely enough my succulents seem to be growing better in this terrarium than they have anywhere else. They are already hitting the top of the terrarium! I think I need to prune them, and I’ve never had to do that with my non-terrarium succulents.
Amanda I love your terrarium and i am planning to work on one this week myself. What soil mixture did you use? Would you mind explaining the ingredients or products you used for your soil? Thank you :-)
The Score & Solder terrarium came with almost everything I needed. There was some gravel to layer at the bottom for drainage, activated charcoal to layer on top of the gravel (to help with filtration—it’s also available at pet stores in the aquarium section), and I used a cactus & succulent soil mix I got from Lowes. The kit also included some sand to layer on top of the soil. That’s it!
Is this actually a closed terrarium or are one of the panes of glass open? I totally want one of the bigger ones but I guess the type of plants to put in it depends if it’s open or closed.
On mine every other pane is open.

heb je dit helemaal zelf gemaakt?
zo ja? waar heb je al die spullen gekocht als ik vragen mag,
echt een super leuk idee

Hi Amanda, I’m in love for terrarium . Where did you find the glass?
