Design Process: Halloween 2012

Who’s ready for fall? I’ve never designed Halloween goodies before (well, except these postcards years ago), so I’ve been playing in my sketchbook to see what I can come up with. I’m not sure yet which of these will become cards, and which will just stay in my sketchbook.

I also messed around with gouache a bit. Last October I drew a “happy halloweenie” hot dog on our kitchen chalkboard. I loved that guy, and I think he needs to make a comeback! Do you think he needs mustard?

Those are so cool! I love the trees but they’re all great. The gouache halloweenie is so cute, maybe a little mustard squiggly?

    Such cute “treats” for fall!

Also, wanted to share some gouache with you lol

I recently subscribed to soulpancake on youtube and they had a video of an artist using gouache and thought it might be helpful for you to see her techniques.

I’m actually a bit behind! I should be working on Christmas stuff now—eek!

You guys are awesome! Thanks for all the great feedback. Mr. Weenie now has mustard. :)

I loooove that very first sketch in the photos! All the others are great too, but that’s definitely my favorite. I love the gouache work as well! You never cease to amaze! Keep it up.

clever, you are! i love your sketches… they’re such a treat. seriously difficult to choose a favorite but, i have to say, your gorgeous skull sketch made me wish i could twist/turn my screen and manipulate it to show me more!

I love your comments more than I love chocolate (almost).
