Since spring my friend Michelle Smith has been working her butt off on her opus, Kindred Boutique. I knew Michelle was a talented stylist, but when I walked into Kindred this afternoon (which 6 months ago was an empty, stark white space lit by buzzing fluorescent lights) I was dumbfounded! The boutique has that whimsical Anthropologie-esque charm that sucks you in and makes you lose track of time as you examine every bit and bauble.
Kindred is a non-profit that will sell the work of budding local artisans and help them grow their businesses through workshops and mentoring. The grand opening is tomorrow! Starting at 6pm there will be a DJ, free beer, and a 10% discount on everything in the store. Kindred is at 131 S. Wilmington Street in downtown Raleigh—hopefully you locals can stop by!
Every city needs a Kindred Boutique! What do you think Michelle, are you up for it? ;)
If you’d like to help support Kindred, here’s the Kickstarter campaign.

Manda-I hope it’s hugely successful for her-it looks completely wonderful. It’s something I would have loved to do in our village, but never quite got round to it. She is so talented-it’s perfect! :-) Caroline (BYW)
