O Christmas Tree

I nearly forgot about Christmastime while we were on our trip, so when we got back I asked Daniel to help me put the tree up first thing.

While listening to good ol’ Bing of course!

The dogs even get excited when we pull out the boxes of decorations and give them their Christmas toys.

Growing up my family always decorated the Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving. That evening we would turn off all the lights, sit around the twinkling tree, and my dad would read us a short story¬†that turned the tree into so much more than a meaningless ritual. If anyone is interested in starting a new tradition, my dad posted a pdf of the story God’s Three Trees¬†and even an mp3 of himself reading it right here on his blog!

I have a black Christmas tree with blue, silver and black decorations. It’s mainly an ornament tree. I despise tinsel on a tree. Don’t forget to post a picture of your completed tree (coz I’m nosy)

I LOVE these photos and the bokeh effect you achieved…would you mind sharing what kind of camera and lens you used? I just bought my first DSLR camera [Nikon D7000] and I’m looking into purchasing several new lenses. Adore your blog and your work.

Thanks Beth! I used my Canon 5D Mark II paired with a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 lens. Get a 50mm prime lens for sure! It’s my favorite!

I love your comments more than I love chocolate (almost).
