Washington

Daniel and I spent last week in the Pacific Northwest exploring Washington and Oregon. I’m so thankful to live in such a beautiful country. Here are a few shots from Washington. (Special thanks to Daniel for being my human tripod when necessary!)

After checking out Seattle, we visited Mt. Rainier in all its snow-capped glory. Luckily we got there just in time to enjoy a beautiful sunset.

Hurricane Ridge was unbelievably gorgeous, sunny, and Christmas scented due to all the fir trees. The curious doe we met up there wasn’t the least bit shy. After a few minutes of watching her, an adorable little fawn joined her in the underbrush.

Rialto and La Push beaches were misty and mysterious. The colorful beach rocks were begging to be stuffed into my pockets! I wonder if there’s some way we could dump a huge load of stones like those on North Carolina’s beaches?

Our last stop in Washington was the Hoh Rainforest, where we wandered through the aptly named Hall of Mosses. I have a thing for moss, and this place was magical.

Stay tuned for Oregon photos!

I just moved from Oregon to Utah, and these pictures remind me how much I truly miss it. It’s so green and lovely in the PNW. Your eye for photography is incredible, you really captured it. Well done.

Beautiful. I loved visiting those beaches. All the pebbles!
If you have a thing for mosses, read the novel The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert. A very enjoyable historical fiction that plant geeks would like.

Thank you! I have a Canon 5D Mark II and I took these with my Canon EF 17-40mm F/4 L lens. (Except the 2nd to the last photo of the mossy trees was taken with my iphone6 plus.)

I love your comments more than I love chocolate (almost).
